Core Web Vitals are a small set of measurements Google uses to judge how pleasant a page is to use. You do not need to understand the code, but it helps to know what they measure.
Loading
How long it takes for the main content of the page to appear. Large images and slow hosting are the usual causes of a poor score.
Responsiveness
How quickly the page reacts when someone taps or clicks. Heavy scripts, chat widgets and tracking tools often slow this down.
Visual stability
Whether things jump around while the page loads. If a button moves just as someone tries to tap it, that is a stability problem, usually caused by images or adverts without reserved space.
Why they matter
A fast, stable page keeps more visitors, and Google uses page experience as one of many ranking signals. The bigger benefit is simple: fewer people give up before they call you.
How to check your site
Google’s free PageSpeed Insights tool reports all three for any page. Test your homepage and your most important service page on mobile.
What to ask your web team
- Are our images compressed and sized correctly?
- Which scripts and plugins can we remove?
- Is our hosting fast enough?
- Do images and embeds have their space reserved?
- Are we testing on mobile, not only desktop?
Keep it in proportion
Perfect scores are not the goal. A site that passes comfortably and has clear content will beat a slightly faster site with nothing useful on it. Fix the obvious problems, then put your effort into content and reviews.
